Lakes e-Safety

What is e-safety?

E-Safety – the safe and responsible use of technology – is sometimes presented as primarily a child protection issue. While children, young people and vulnerable adults do need support to keep themselves safe online, the risks associated with the use of technology are not confined to them. E-Safety issues may also affect adults – for example, the mismanagement of personal data, and risks of financial scams, identity theft and cyber bullying. This will be particularly relevant for those adults who are new to using technology.  Taken from http://www.excellencegateway.org.uk/page.aspx?o=197284

How does Lakes College improve e-safety awareness?

At Lakes College we appreciate the learning opportunities the internet can bring, but we are also aware of the risks.

To increase our learners awareness of e-safety we encourage everyone to visit the following websites:

http://www.childnet-int.org/sorted/

http://www.digizen.org/

http://www.childnet.com/downloading/

http://www.chatdanger.com/

In addition to this all of our learners accept and sign a code of conduct.  This guidance is further reinforced by our participation in e-safety week and

an integrated e-safety theme during the learners induction week.
