Redundancy alternatives
In light of the recent economic downturn, redundancy may seem like the most obvious option when you are struggling to keep overheads down and remain competitive. But it’s not the only option. We can work with employers to retrain those under threat of redundancy so that they can fill other vacancies within the organisation.
We can also work with the rest of your workforce to ensure their skills are up-to-date through our Train to Gain and workforce development programmes. Such training can help promote a positive attitude in the work place and even give your organisation the competitive edge. The training is fully funded and can be delivered in the workplace or at one of our centres in Manchester.

Pre-employment training
If you consistently have problems finding a sufficient number of suitable applicants for a particular post, your organisation could benefit from our pre-employment training. We can work with you to design a programme that will give unemployed people the skills and knowledge needed to access jobs within your organisation.
Using our own facilities, we can deliver training that gives participants the skills and confidence to apply for and maintain employment. We can then work with you to organise work trials, which will allow you to get to know the candidates prior to interview.
On completion of the programme, you will have a group of applicants who know exactly what the job will entail and who are excited about the prospect of working for your organisation. Once in work, they are supported and monitored by us for an agreed period before undertaking further training leading to NVQs.

Work placements
A work placement is an ideal way to benefit from a student’s skills and knowledge. We have thousands of students of all ages who are gaining skills in the latest technologies, business techniques and processes across all business sectors in readiness for employment. Your business could benefit from offering students work placements because they allow you the opportunity to appraise the potential of possible future employees and learn from their up-to-date knowledge and skills.
It’s a great opportunity for students as well, as they really do value the practical experience and contacts that they gain from work placements. We work closely with employers to ensure that the work placement is mutually beneficial to both the organisation and the student and we provide support and assistance to organise the work placement and ensure that it runs smoothly.
