Hairdressing NVQ (Intermediate)

What's On The Course?

The Apprenticeship is a programme of vocational education and training whereby you will develop your skills whilst learning on the job, building up knowledge and experience, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time.

As an Apprentice, you will learn about:

•    Reception.
•    Cutting hair.
•    Colouring and perming.
•    Consultation
•    Shampooing and styling.
•    Health and safety.
•    Functional Skills in Maths and English
•    Employee Rights and Responsibilities

Assessment information:

You will be assessed both in college and the workplace.

How Long Does It Take?

The apprenticeship will take up to 18 months. You will attend college 1 day per week (8 hours) and will be required to spend the rest of your week in industry.


When Does It Start?

The Apprenticeship can start at any time.


Who Is It Suitable For?

Anyone who wants to work in the hairdressing industry as a Junior Stylist.


What Are The Entry Requirements?

  • Employment in a salon
  • Interview, 2 GCSE C-D
  • Good timekeeping, communication skills and high level of personal presentation


What Can I Do Next?

On completion you can progress onto NVQ 3 Advanced Apprenticeship.


How Much Does It Cost?

Apprenticeships are government funded, so there is no cost. However, you will need to purchase a kit and tunic approx £140. In addition you will be expected to wear black trousers/skirt and small heeled black shoes.

    i love hair dreesing it a hobby off mine i would love to work with other people in the hair indestry,i cant wait till i go to college and start learning new skills.
    i also love beuty but hair is my main favourite thing i would love to achieve all the work that needs done thanks
