What's On The Course?
The Apprenticeship is a programme of vocational education and training whereby you will learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all as the same time.
The Apprenticeship is made up of the ITQ Diploma and key skills in application of number and communication.
The ITQ Diploma is the new qualification of IT users.
There are a wide and varied range of units available within the ITQ Framework including the options to use bespoke/specialist software.
ITQ allows the learner/employer to create a custom made IT qualification by building up units credits to a minimum of 38 credits.
The main software packages are based on the Microsoft Office Suite:
- Word Processing
- Spreadsheets
- Databases
- PowerPoint
- Email and internet/intranets
How Long Does It Take?
The apprenticeship will last between 15 to 18 months.
When Does It Start?
The Apprenticeship can start at any time.
Who Is It Suitable For?
Primarily the ITQ Diploma is aimed at those in employment, with an emphasis on those who are using IT as a significant part of their role.
What Are The Entry Requirements?
No formal entry requirements, but candidates need to be able to demonstrate their use of IT to Level 2 standards in the course of their normal duties.
- Four GSCEs at grade D or three GCSEs at grade D plus either Literacy or Numeracy Basic Skills Assessment at Level 1.
- Good attitude to learning
- Enthusiasm for the occupational area
- Willingness to achieve your goal
- Minimum age of 16 years
- Employment in an environment where the use of IT is a major part of your role
What Can I Do Next?
Progression onto an advanced apprenticeship, promotion within the workplace or further career options in IT.
How Much Does It Cost?
Apprenticeships are government funded, however you will be expected to provide basic stationery items, e.g. folder/plastic wallets to store your ITQ evidence.
Where Does It Take Place?
Depending on your individual needs, the majority of your programme is spent undertaking work with your employer.
Agreed off the job training and assessment in college will be discussed with you to suit your training programme.
Off the job training and assessment will consist of up to five CLAIT units which will automatically map into your Diploma, thus adding value to the apprenticeship by providing a CLAIT certificate as well as the Diploma.
