What's On The Course?
The Apprenticeship is a programme of vocational education and training whereby you will develop your skills whilst learning on the job, building up your knowledge and experience, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time.
As an Apprentice you will learn how to carry out vehicle maintenance and repairs, removing and replacing components and units. You will be observed and assessed carrying out these tasks in the workplace.
During this course, you will build a portfolio of evidence gathered at your workplace.
Your underpinning knowledge of vehicle systems and components will be assessed by assignments and online tests.
How Long Does It Take?
A Level 2 Apprenticeship is typically completed in two years.
When Does It Start?
The Apprenticeship can start at any time.
Who Is It Suitable For?
People with a genuine interest in motor vehicles and technology, and an interest in mechanics.
What Are The Entry Requirements?
- Suitable for those who have a level 1 qualification or are likely to achieve GSCE grades D to F in English, Maths and a Science based subject.
- A good attitude to learning.
- Enthusiasm for the motor vehicle industry.
- Willingness to achieve your goals.
- Pass the motor vehicle aptitude test and interview.
- Employment in the motor vehicle service and repair sectors.
What Can I Do Next?
On completion and achievement of level 2 you can progress onto the Advanced Apprenticeship (level 3), then on to higher education in engineering or university.
It could also be a route for employment in the armed services.
The qualification is recognised world wide.
How Much Does It Cost?
Apprenticeships are Government funded. However college will provide all tools and personal protective clothing for use in college.
Where Does It Take Place?
Depending on your individual needs, the majority of your programme is spent undertaking work with your employer. Agreed off the job training at College will be discussed with you to suit your training programme.
