Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (QCF) Computing

What’s on the Course?
Students will attend a range of practical and theoretical sessions learning skills to help them in industry as well as gaining the knowledge and understanding. Students will undertake the following units.

• Development of IT practical skills
• Development of networking skills
• Use of a wide range of software and hardware
• Enhancement of your skills in teamwork and communication
• Programming
• Web Development
• Computer Animation
• Technical Support
• Digital Graphics

September

How long does it take?
Two years full-time.

Who is it suitable for?
Anyone who wishes to make a career in computing or improve their employment prospects by gaining skills relevant to the workplace.

Successful completion of this course can lead to entry to Higher Education such as our Foundation Degree in Computing.

What are the entry requirements?
You normally need 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C, or an Intermediate level GNVQ/NVQ with a merit in at least one subject (Maths or English GCSE at grades A* - C would be an advantage) Experienced students without formal qualifications will also be considered

What can I do next?
Upon completion of the course students can progress to higher education and do a computing degree or apply for the foundation degree in computing at lakes college. Alternatively students can gain employment and specialise in one of the many areas they have studied.
