What’s on the Course?
Students will attend a range of practical and theoretical sessions learning skills to help them in industry as well as gaining the knowledge and understanding. Students will undertake the following units.

Development of IT practical skills
Use of a wide range of software and hardware
Enhancement of your skills in teamwork and communication
Programming
Web Development
Computer Animatio
Digital Graphics
Human Computer Interaction
2D Animation Production
Multimedia Design
Computer Game Design

Assessment information?
All learners will be assessed by assignments and portfolio based assessment. Assignments will allow students to demonstrate their practical skills as well as develop their academic writing skills.

September

How long does it take?
Two years full-time.

Who is it suitable for?
Anyone interested in multimedia and looking to pursue a career in multimedia or to further their knowledge.
Successful completion of this course can lead to entry to Higher Education such as University of Cumbria’s various degrees in digital arts and Graphic design courses.

What are the entry requirements?
You normally need 4 GCSEs at grades A*-C, or an Intermediate level GNVQ/NVQ with a merit in at least one subject (Maths or English GCSE at grades A* - C would be an advantage) Experienced students without formal qualifications will also be considered

What can I do next?
Upon completion of the course students can progress to higher education and do a computing degree or apply for the foundation degree in computing at lakes college. Alternatively students can gain employment and specialise in one of the many areas they have studied.
