What’s on the Course?
Learners will achieve a range of certificates at Entry Level 1 to 3 depending on individual ability and option choices. Certificates will be nationally recognised qualifications issued by Ascentis, NOCN and Edexcel. All learners will improve on the core functional skills and social skills to improve confidence as part of the course.
* Functional Skills English
* Functional Skills Maths
* Functional Skills IT
* Life Skills or Citizenship
* A choice of vocational options such as cookery, art, sport or horticulture as available.
* Skills for Employment – where appropriate
* Personal Tutorial
All Functional Skills will be assessed formally with externally set papers, others will be portfolio based and the years work will decide achievement.
How long does it take?
Minimum 1 year optional progress to year 2 and possibly year 3.
When does it start?
The course starts in September
Who is it suitable for?
Vulnerable learners who have a Learning Difficulty, Disability or Medical Condition who would benefit from this supported transition to Further Education before accessing a vocational area or moving to other providers.
What are the entry requirements?
There are no formal qualification requirements. Applicants should have a SEN background and may be referred by school or a Connexions advisor. All applicants will need to be interviewed by a member of the Pathways team and a member of the Additional Learning Support team who can assess their needs. Wherever possible this will be a single interview.
What can I do next?
Progression may be to other Entry or Foundation level courses in vocational areas, employment or other more appropriate provision depending on the individual.
